The Fur Trade - About Beavers

Beavers were important to the fur trade.

• Beavers are vegetarians they eat; clover, raspberries, bark, and their favourite food is water lilly.
• Beavers live about 30 years in captivity but only live about 10 years in the wild. Baby beavers are called kittens or pups.
• They fall trees to build a dam. Once there was over 60 million beavers in North America.
• Beavers can not see well but they have excellent scent senses.
